Quickbooks - Customer Refund

Customer Refund

If you refund a customer for goods or services that they’ve already paid for, follow the instructions below.


Create refund receipt

Click on the '+' sign at the top right of your screen and under 'Customers' select 'Refund Receipt' and enter the following details:

  • Customer

  • Date

  • Refunded From: usually the current bank account

  • Product/Service

  • Amount

  • VAT (this should match the VAT rate on the original sale)

Click the green button at the bottom right of the screen: 'Save and close'.


Match to bank

Go to the ‘Banking’ tab once the refund has been paid out of your bank account and click ‘Match’ next to the bank payment.
